My little Jackson is getting fiesty in his old age. When he feels like he's losing control in a situation, he resorts to "disciplining" me! Yesterday was one of those days where we just couldn't see eye-to-eye, and he had a couple of humorous responses!
We went to lunch at Rumbi's with Aunt Joanna after school. Jackson wanted his own salad. I gave him the choice to share a salad with me or choose something off of the Kids Menu...
Jackson: "If you don't let me get my own salad, I'll go get a tattoo. A real one. I'll get hundreds of them."
(My great parental response was..."okay, go do it" while trying not to laugh.)
Jackson hit Aunt Joanna and earned himself a trip to time out. While in time out, he kept yelling...
Jackson: "If you don't let me out of here, I'm going to tell your mom."
Jackson wanted to do something (I can't remember what now) that wasn't safe. I told him that he couldn't do it.
Jackson: "Well, if you don't let me do it, I'll take your bike away."
Me: I don't have a bike.
Jackson: "Well, when you get one, I'll take it away."
Me: (once again, my great parenting skills shine through) "Okay, you do that when I get a new bike."
Why is it that every time we have days like this, I want to argue back with him?! He has been cracking us up lately with stories from school. Those I'll save for another post...

This is hilarious! I love the hundreds of tattoos. I think that will be a very good look for him.
Maybe he'll at least get the standard "mom written in a heart" tattoo to help you feel better about his decision.
Jill,
I totally have those days. Especially with the preschool to first grade age where their reasoning skills aren't the greatest! He is hilarious. I loved the tatoo comment! LOL.
I am Laughing Out Loud! Too funny! I would have come up with the same responses as you :)
Wait until he tatoos his brother.
Isn't it crazy how much brain power it takes to try to talk to a 4 year old sometimes? Sometimes I don't even know what to say to Hadlee, I just stare at her.
HiLaRiOuS!!! I'm glad we're not the only one's with stories like these. Too Funny!!!
I am laughing so hard!! What a funny kid. My favorite is the tattoo, a "real one" and hundreds of them!! So great, though when you are in the situation it isn't always so funny but good thing you can look back and laugh.
that is hilarious! i really can't imagine him saying all that...i really like the tatoo comment! great!!!
Hi, this is Ali (Gressmen) Threet. I read your title of this latest blog and totally thought you had written my last name. It wasn't until after I read the entry that I realized what it actually said. My brain was totally playing tricks on me. Anyway...this blog was great. Kids crack my up.
