Silly Boys

Here are a few silly memories about these crazy boys...

Bowen is obsessed with the movie "Sandlot." Unfortunately, because of this obsession, the "Sandlot" DVD has "accidentally" become lost! Bowen picked up a few expressions from that movie that make us smile and cringe at the same time:
Justin, Jackson and Bowen were playing catch in the family room. Justin threw the ball at Bowen and hit him in the stomach. He got a little scowl on his face and said to Justin,
"Don't hit me in the coconuts, you crapface!"
I will comment and say that while "crapface" came from "Sandlot," the expression about "coconuts" came from his daddy!
Also because of "Sandlot," Bowen is sure that there is a big, scary dog on the other side of every fence that is trying to get all of his balls. While playing outside with Uncle Chris one evening, his ball went over the fence. Chris proceeded to jump the fence to grab it, which sent Bowen into hysterics! Sometimes, he even role plays the whole dog scene in our front room. He hides a ball behind a chair, and then sees how fast he can capture it before the dog gets him. When you ask him what he is doing, he says, "I'm trying to get the ball back for Sandlot." Wow!
**Something exciting about Bowen's life right now is he is potty-trained!! A couple of weeks before Christmas (the worse time of year to potty-train), he decided he was ready to wear big-boy pants. I didn't want to pass-up the opportunity to start while he was showing such interest, so we went for it! After a couple of weeks, he was completely done. And now, recently, he is potty-trained through his naps and through the night. We are so proud of him!!***

Jackson got in the car after school the other day and said to me as we were driving away,
"Mom, you are so lucky. You can drive AND tie your own shoes."
Aren't I lucky to not have very high expectations placed on me by my Jacksie?!
Another conversation with Jackson. Keep in mind that Grandma Great is 91 years old.

"Mom, is Great older than you?"

Wow. All I could think to say is, "I sure hope so."

**Something exciting in Jackson's life right now is he is becoming such a good little reader! It is so exciting to see him read--and he is so excited about it! He also loves math. He has a math workbook that we take to church, and I have been blown away by his understanding of everything from telling time to counting coins.

He also has the first Article of Faith memorized and recited it for the whole Primary. I am so grateful for him as the "leader of the pack" in our family.

I would have complained about your blogless attitude sooner, but I get to see you and your family often. I have to admit, though, it is fun to read your blog and see the pictures!
