Fun Christmas Traditions

Christmas is such a great time for family traditions! It has been so fun to start our own traditions as we have started our own little family. Here are a few that we have started this year. Since this is the last post before Christmas, we hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

We decided to have a "Kid's Christmas Tree!" I decided this while decorating the family Christmas tree when Jackson kept "helping" me by taking ornaments on and off the tree. We went to Roberts and picked out a tree for him and Bowen. Jackson helped me put the lights on and then made his own ornaments. The funnest part of this tradition was seeing how proud Jackson was of his ornaments and finished tree. This beautiful work of art is on display in the cave!

Dear Santa... The Santa Letter tradition really had me cracking up this year. I took a picture of the actual letter because I was so proud of Jackson's writing. At the top it says "L-Max" and then at the bottom, he wrote his name! He kept asking me, "Is it beautiful, Mom?!" Jackson tore off a little piece of the original letter (as shown above) and told me that letter was for Santa's husband! Wow--I hope Santa doesn't have a husband!

Jackson decided instead of mailing his letter at the post office, he would like to take his directly to Santa at the Mall. He grabbed a white bucket as a carrying case (one other thing I was laughing about) and we headed off to the mall. We had to make two trips because the first time we went, we lost the letter somewhere between the car and Santa. But rest assured, we went back that night so the letter could be mailed! We attracted a lot of laughs as Jackson carried his bucket through the mall singing "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town!"

One of the more classic, yet sacred, traditions is going to Temple Square to see the lights. Poor Bowen looks like the boy in the Christmas Story! He was a trooper though. Justin was able to take the Boys right up to the beautiful doors of the temple. We loved telling Jackson about baby Jesus while we walked around. Jackson kept saying "Jesus is nice" and "Jesus is my friend." It certainly is more rewarding as a parent to hear your children speak of the Savior like that and give Santa a break for awhile. This is one Christmas tradition I always look forward too!
Merry Christmas to my sweet family!
