On October 4, Justin ran his 9th St. George Marathon! It was probably one of the more memorable ones as well due to the sleet that fell at the beginning of the race and the constant rain and wind that persisted the rest of the race. Despite that all, it was such a great experience from my perspective to take Jackson and Bowen to the famous "Mile 16" and to the finish line to cheer on their Daddy as he accomplished a difficult goal. Jackson kept telling me, "Daddy's going to win the gold medal." And in our eyes, he did! We are SO proud of him. Of course, right when we found him at the fnish line, I asked him what I always ask him right after he is done, "Are you going to do it again next year?" And he responded without hesitation, "Yes."
Teylor and Alison waiting at Mile 16 while Bowen and Walker are trying to keep dry. We had a fun weekend with Jake and Tey as well as Alison and her family. We always love when they come and meet up with us in St. George. Alison had a great little run herself (one of her many talents) while I discovered a new talent of Teylor's--directing traffic! When a traffic jam developed at the top of the mountain, she got out and directed traffic so we could get down to the finish line in time.
Jackson and Bowen did such a great job despite the conditions. These are pictures of them at Mile 16. Jackson couldn't wait to see Justin!
Justin ran with Ben Lloyd, one of the Young Men from our Ward who was running his first marathon. Could you ask for a better coach? They were also lucky to have another experienced marathoner join them in the last few miles of the run--Jake! This is them at Mile 16. Yes, Justin is washing down an Ibuprofen with diet Coke.
We had a great weekend! Justin informed me on the way home that he would like to see if there is another marathon close by in the next couple of weeks. Crazy... I wish I could catch this marathon bug because I find it quite impressive.
GREAT JOB, JUSTY BOY! WE LOVE YOU!

What a great accomplishment!! I envy him wanting to run more..especially since this was number 9. I ran one, and have had a hard time wrapping my mind around training for another one...it is so much work!!
Good times had by all! Lets just hope next time it is warm weather - that rain was hard to handle for those few hours:) Does Justin's gold medal look like D-will's? ha ha. Justins is way cooler!
Way to go Justy!! I do think you should win the gold medal for running your YM in!!!!
What an accomplishment! I am in awe...someday I hope to do at least 1!!
Way to go, Justy! I can't believe that is #9 for you...crazy! So proud of you!
The amazing part is he is already wanting to do another one. I wonder how many he will do in his lifetime.... you are such a great wife to take your family and support him, even in the sleet and rain.
Way to go Justin. That is really impressive. I heard that there is some marathon that is mostly uphill. You know, since you are obviously beyond the "beginning marathoner stage"! Can't wait to hear about your number 10! =)
Justin is such a good guy for helping out his friend. I know I enjoyed seeing him as we ran past mile 21 and he was "stopped" on the side of the road. What a good sport. He really did look strong and I can't wait to run it with him next year.
I LOVE your new background!
Hey- Ben Lloyd was one of my students! I also had his brother JD. Great kids! If you see him, tell him hello!
