Who Taught You Manners...

NOTE: I'm not sure who is responsible for the following statement from Jackson. I think I'll blame it on a few people: my older brother Greg (who invented part of the saying when he was a kid) and Justin (who continues to bring it up).
I had just picked Jackson up from school, and we were running a few errands.
Jackson: (Burping loudly) "Excuse me that was so rude; it was not me, it was my snack I had at school."
Wow...

Jill -
We found the news bit on myfoxnews.com or something like that. It is really a bad shot of me - so embarrasing. Anyhow - cute picture of the boys. We are getting snow right now here in I.F. I am pretty sure that Mark is the one who started that saying. I remember him saying it when Greg and I were first dating. "Pardon me, that was so rude. That was not me, that was my food. It got so lonely down below, it just popped up to say "hello"! Gross! =)

Viki- I am here to tell you that your husband started that saying way-back-when. I remember him saying it when he was in Jr. High! My mom would follow up with "Sorry Greg, but sure as I'm able, you'll be asked to leave the table." Greg, fess up. ;)

So funny! That Jackson cracks me up. I'm glad to know about the surfing, too. Maybe we'll have to join you guys in the hot tub sometime.

Actually mom's follow up comment goes "your not excused for being rude, even if it was your food. So, next time Greg if you are able, you'll be asked to leave the table."

This is sooo Mike! Except his comment is usually something like, "Was that an Elephant under my chair!" Crazy guys! Glad I found you!

I have to say, with all the meals I enjoyed with the Bailey family over the years, I never remember Greg saying that. I'm feeling very, very left out.

You know how I love gastrointestinal rhyming and all.

Okay, here goes! One night we were eating dinner and Greg burped (a no-no at our table). Then he said: "Excuse me all for being rude. It was not me, it was my food. It got so lonely down below, it just came up to say 'hello'." We all laughed then, but over the next few days I created my response in case the situation came up again...which it did. Greg burped at the table and proceeded to recite his verse. As soon as he finished, I recited mine: "You're not excused for being rude, even if it was your food. So next time, Greg, as sure as I'm able, you'll be asked to leave the table." His eyes were so big with surprise by the time I had finished...it was great!
